It was on 2nd March, 1839 that
Texas finally had their flag. Their flag is also known as Lone Star Flag.

History of Texas Independence Day
It symbolizes the espousal of Independence Declaration of Texas in
1836 on March 2. From the city of Mexico this event was marked. This
declaration was signed by the sixty delegates of Texas. Somewhere it is
equivalent to United States Independence that lies on 4th July.
It was the effort of US Congress that after 9 years of Texas
independence declaration, Republic of Texas was ultimately announced. On 29th
of December, 1845 it was accepted as constituent state by the US Congress. It
is day of official holiday here.
Another great importance of this day is Sam Houston Day by which
it is known as. It is named after the birth date of the man who helped in the
victory of Texas in the battle of San Jacinto over Mexican troops.

Mockingbird which is the state bird, Horned lizard (the state reptile and the
